About This Item

Glasgow: M'Phun. 1839. 12mo, octavo, original cloth boards, folding map, pp.viii, 240, ii. Professionally restored, with spine relaid over matching cloth. Stated seventh edition, but appears to be the first. Boards heavily rubbed, corners heavily bumped, some foxing. Very worn with faint remains of the title to original front board. Overall in good condition. Including the folding map of Australia. The title continues: "The Facilites They Offer for Emigration; The Terms Upon Which Land is Purchased in Each; The Advantages They Present for Increasing the Capital of the Emigrant, and Furnishing a Profitable Market for His Labour." A guide for prospective emigrants. Includes a description of the Swan River Colony. The folding map shows Australia as it was in 1839, long before the division into different states. 1st Edition.
