Indianapolis, IN,: Bobbs-Merrill, 1946. 245 pp., red cloth w/ gold lettering; Dust jacket in clear archival cover; Book shows a little wear to ends of spine; slight shelfwear to bottom edges & corners; spine is slightly angled; a little light foxing to top edge of page block; some browned areas to endpapers; Dust jacket shows wear, chipping & small creases to top edges; flap folds area worn through in spots (esp. front); spine panel has pieces missing at ends (about 1 1/2" at head, about 1/2" at foot), w/ some holes worn through where it joins the front panel - it also shows a couple of small scrapes & a white wear line where it joins rear panel; rear panel has a short worn & creased tear to top edge, as well as some light brown dampstains to top right & some light soil overall; inside flaps show a little light soil or foxing w/ some minor dampstains at edges, plus a small crease to each corner of front flap; from panel w/ illustration is still fairly bright w/ the only notable flaw away from the edges a small surface scrape about 1/16" x 3/16" / This is the first in a series of four novels featuring detective Paul Pine. /. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair to Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
