About This Item
Grenoble: Editions Glenat, 1997. 1st. Hardcover. New/New. 12.6x9.6x0.8in. From the middle of the seventeenth century to the late eighteenth, while the Parisian ebenistes were the most prestigious masters, Noel Hache, from Calais, and his descendants, Thomas, Pierre, Jean-Francois, and Christophe- Andre, based in Grenoble, comprised a dynasty of cabinetmakers whose talent and invention competed with the masters of the Saint-Antoine suburb. Presenting and analyzing more than a hundred pieces of furniture, this book places the Hache's work in the aesthetic context of the eighteenth century, focuses on establishing a new chronology of furniture, and clarifies attributions. This is the catalogue of an inaugural exhibition in October 1997 at the Musée Dauphinois in Grenoble. Profusely illustrated almost entirely in color. Text in French.
