About This Item

SEREDY, Kate. Gyspy. NY: The Viking Press, 1951. 4to, 63pp. Gray cloth stamped in green. 29 full-page b&w illustrations. Spine ends and corners slightly rubbed, some odd lines to cloth (apparently inherent in its weaving), previous owner's name and address in ink on front free endpaper, else an internally clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (worn with tiny chips and small tears at folds and edges).

First edition. The story of Gypsy, a beautiful little cat whose life has been full of ups and downs. As a new mother cat, Gypsy thinks back over her growing up years and all that she has learned and come to understand. Kate Seredy's poignant illustrations capture the beauty of these wonderful, ever mysterious creatures.
