About This Item

London: Constable, 1997. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good +. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, showing no marks or wear. The paper has darkened slightly, but this is the only flaw. The black covers are fresh, again with no wear. The silver gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, and has next to no edgewear. However, the jacket has a 4 inch cut parallel to the front gutter. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "The Ritz Hotel in occupied Paris is rocked by an explosion on 17 January 1943. Millions of francs worth of diamonds destined for the Third Reich are missing. The international safe-cracker Gypsy has surfaced and is about to hold the city and its Occupier to ransom. The unlikely team of Jean-Lous St.-Cyr of the Surete and Hermann Kohler of the Gestapo are joined by Herr Max of the Internationalen Krminalpolizei in this, their ninth investigation. By why, really, is Herr Max present when everyone thought the IKPK had ceased to exist?
