Hardcover edition, published by Easton Press, 1976. The classic satire, first published in 1726. Illustrated by Fritz Eichenberg. First published by Easton Press in 1940, this copy is the 1976 reprint. 343 pages, 6-1/2" X 9-1/2". Hardcover, leather bound, with raised band spine panel. Blind stamped illustration and design on the front cover board in gilt. Gilt edges to the text block. Yellow place holder ribbon bound in. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Gilt edges show some minor scuff marks from use and shelf wear. Spots of rubbing wear to the gilt on the back cover board. Bottom edge of the cover has some rubbing wear. All lettering on the spine panel is intact and legible. Sewn binding is tight and square. No dust jacket - as issued. Not a library discard copy. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
Synopsis
Gulliver's Travels (1726, amended 1735), officially Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of several Ships, is a novel by Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift that is both a satire on human nature and a parody of the "travellers' tales" literary sub-genre. It is Swift's best known full-length work, and a classic of English literature. The book became tremendously popular as soon as it was published.
