Ashmead was the American editor of Rendell's Doubleday books. First American Edition. Near Fine in Near Fine Dust Jacket, nice copy. SIGNED: "Ruth Rendell." Laid in is a note on card stock with "Ruth Rendell" printed at the top. It begins "Dear Larry" and ends "With Love, Ruth." It is a brief three-sentence note about her tour through Canada promoting her latest book. Rendell has been showered with awards. She won a Silver Dagger, four Gold Daggers, and a Cartier Diamond Dagger for Lifetime's Achievement in the Field from Great Britain's Crime Writers Association. She won three Edgars and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. She won the Mystery Ink Gumshoe Award for Lifetime Achievement.
