About This Item
London: H. G. Bohn, 1857. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Sixteenmo; xxxviii, 504 pages, contemporary half calf, marbled boards (rubbed)
To Which are Added an Introductory Essay on Pottery and Porcelain and an Engraved List of Marks and Monograms. Bohn was a renowned publisher who appreciated porcelains and antiques. The famed Bernal Collection was sold at auction, and Bohn became the owner of the woodcuts which had illustrated the auction catalogue. That sale provoked an exhibition of some of the art works sold by Bernal, with supplemental contributions by others, including Bohn. Additional Notes have been supplied by Mr. Thomas Woods of Christie's, and Mr. Burn. Bohn considered the Appendix of Monograms the "great feature of the volume". Much of the Ralph Bernal Collections also comprised of Armour and Arms

About Thomas J. Joyce And Company
Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16. The book had vanished for nearly a century until its re-discovery in 2017. It is now back at Mt. Vernon.
