Toronto: McClelland and Stewart. Soft cover. Very Good. 8vo (small). n.d. [1919]. 1st Canadian Edition. In original handsome red wrappers. 78 p.p. Rubbing to spine and edges. Some scuffs with light soil to rear cover. Corners gently bruised. Previous owner inscription scratched out on front fly leaf, else in very good condition. A collection of poems dealing mostly with the First World War [1914-1918]. Poems include Ypres, The Guns in Sussex, Christmas in Wartime, and others such as The Volunteer, a semi-autobiographical poem. Refused enlistment due to his age, Doyle had formed the Crowborough Company of the Sixth Royal Sussex Volunteer Regiment, a Civilian National Reserve.
