Swan Sonnenschein & Co, London, 1889. First Edition. Hardcover (Illustrated Boards). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Linley Sambourne. preface by author. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece and one other black and white full page illustration within the text drawn by Linley Sambourne. Illustrated cloth covered boards  please see photograph, with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Gilt to the top textblock edge. Told in verse, a very jaundiced look at Irish / English relations in the late 19th century. The book is showing its age. Softening and rubbing to the backstrip edges with bumping and rubbing the book corners. A little rubbing of the book panels with the red cloth a little torn on the front panel. The front hinge has cracked  and the underlying webbing is visible. Gift inscription to the free front end paper. The illustration on page 40 has become detached from the text block. Browning of the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. Rubbing of the endpapers and a few foxing spots to the pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], VII - VIII, 93, [3] pages,.
