About This Item
Ancient World lggc Leendert Gerrit. The Greek commentaries on Plato's Phaedo, Volume II: Damascius. Amsterdam/New York: North-Holland Publishing Company, 408p, index. Very good, stitched black cloth binding, gilt lettering on spine ("Phaidon – Kommentare II"). Damaskios, ca. 480-ca 550. Aporiai kai lyseis peri ton proton archon. Greek with facing English translation. A solid, very heavy copy of the reprint. $25.00 Box 23. This is Volume II only.
This is not the original imprint, see description below.
The paper is decent quality and professionally bound. The binding is hardbound, black cloth with gilt lettering on spine. The photo-copy is of German origin – think it was especially printed when a classics professor was studying in Tubingen. It must have been very expensive to both make the photocopy and then bind it in a sturdy binding. Perhaps the costs of production were spread over many copies, I don't know. I would guess it was done between 1980 and 1990. It appears that the reprint person photo reproduced two pages as a leaf.
