This is a collection of sermons Fosdick gave during WW2--what a challenging time. Only a few of them are actually dated, and I wish they all were. Knowing whether America was at a low ebb or with victory on the horizon would be useful context. Though I suppose it doesn't change the real message.

Also interesting was how much he was thinking & preaching about "winning the peace" that would come AFTER the war.

Of course, he was a beacon for liberal Christianity, as always. Race relations were never far from his mind, as he saw things we desperately need to improve in our own country while preoccupied with the evil in other lands. Preaching This book is from a 100 year old Jewish Temple library. Many books are from the 19th Century. Books were not written in at that time, instead an index card with info.
