Boards have rubbing and shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Author was the ex-Yardmaster for Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railway, and the Grand Organizer of the Switchmen's Mutual Aid Association of North America. Labor's side of the momentous joint strike of firemen and engineers on the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad. Eugene Debs, who was among the strike's supporters, would later cite its failure as an example of the ineffectiveness of craft unions, an argument which finally led to the organization of the industrial American Railway Union (with Debs as leader) in 1893. E-57; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
