About This Item
This book is used, has been read, significant wear on top right corner of front cover, minor wear elsewhere. Spine intact, some creases. Minor wear on inner pages, no markings.
A harrowing excavation unearths a chilling tragedy never laid to rest. They are "the disappeared," twenty-three massacre victims buried in a well in the Guatemalan village of Chupan Ya two decades ago. Leading a team of experts on a meticulous, heartbreaking dig, Tempe Brennan pieces together the violence of the past. But a fresh wave of terror begins when the horrific sounds of a fatal attack on two colleagues come in on a blood-chilling satellite call. Teaming up with Special Crimes Investigator Bartolomé Galiano and Montreal detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe quickly becomes enmeshed in the cases of four privileged young women who have vanished from Guatemala City — and finds herself caught in deadly territory where power, money, greed, and science converge.
Kathy Reichs is a forensic anthropologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of North Carolina, and for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Quebec. She is one of only fifty forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and is on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. A professor of anthropology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Dr. Reichs is a native of Chicago, where she received her Ph.D. at Northwestern. She now divides her time between Charlotte and Montreal and is a frequent expert witness in criminal trials.

We specialize in historical fiction, non-fiction and children's fiction. Above all we value integrity and transparency and are looking for ways to connect with other bibliophiles. Our resident artist is a proudly Metis youth, working to regain connection with his Metis heritage, and much of his passion for social justice and reconciliation may be envisioned within his art. We offer a wide variety of books for sale, both gently used and new. We are also very thrilled to announce availability of a limited number of prints and original artwork by Baz.
