About This Item

Le Touvet, France: Editions Marcel-Didier, 1998. Paperback small oblong quarto, very good condition, black & white text-photos (mostly full-page), glossy paper, minor edgewear. 144 pp. The British-built but French ocean liner "De Grasse" has had an eventful career. For 40 years, she went through a world war, several conversions and sales, and two sinkings. It re-opened the French Line Transatlantic service in 1947, and later became "Empress of Australia" and "Empress of Venezuela" under different national flags. A superbly illustrated book based on archival material. Parallel text in French and English.
