About This Item
London: J. M. Dent & Sons. Good/Good. 1939. First Edition. Hard Cover. 8vo Dust jacket complete in a clear protective sleeve, closed tear, slight fading to spine, unclipped price of 3s 6d. net on flap. Red cloth with black titling, some fading to cloth. No ownership inscription. A few light spots on page tips. 148 pages clean and tight. Miss Farjeon's gay and delightfully original plays for children need no publisher's introduction, for they are too well known to need one, and too popular to be anything but welcome. They are always easy to ad, to learn, to speak, and to produce, and these are no exception, especially suited in consequence for nursery-school production, or for simpler village entertainment. The singing-games are published with music, clearly and readably printed, which naturally adds greatly to their value, and the last little play is favourite `Snow-White,' newly written as a lector play. The introduction here of a Narrator solves many problems of production, and makes of the old story something that all children will love and understand-the `reading aloud' of a fairy-tale that comes to life under their very eyes. .
