About This Item
New York: Harper and Brothers Publishing, 1927. Limited Edition First thus. Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Paper spine label just lightly mottled, otherwise a very fine copy of this tough and austere chronicle of pioneers in Wisconsin, a kind of paradigm of the growth of the American nation. Beautiful Ex-Libris of E. Herbert Vogel on front paste-down. Booksellers small label 1.25"x1/2" on rear paste down. Book is quarter bound in velum over green boards, and has fine velum tips at corners. All edges are fine and untrimmed. Book is limited to 250 copies, this is #156 signed by the author (with the most beautiful signature I have ever seen). Publishers slip-case has fine paper label on front. The rest of the case is fairly worn, but still quite serviceable. A wonderful collectible of Americana.
