A "vivid portrait of the man usually regarded as 'our greatest Secretary of State" . . .and of his remarkable [invalid] wife . . .who loved him and contended with him." Endpapers lightly, uniformly age-browned. Otherwise clean and tight. Dust jacket moderately edgeworn, including one 1/2" closed tear at lower front panel and another 1/2" closed tear at head of spine. Moderate discoloration/staining to jacket, most noticeable at (white) rear panel.
