Affectionately inscribed by the author on the half-title to Colorado naturalist author, Charles Southwick: "To Chuck / With all best wishes for / your interest and support / of the gorilla research. / Warm regards / Dian Fossey". Signed by Charles Southwick on the ffep. Among many teaching posts, Southwick served as Chairman of the Department of EPO Biology at the University of Colorado.
