About This Item

Private Eye / Andre Deutsch, London, 1979. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing) - this copy signed by the author on the front endpaper. 8vo. 144pp. Black boards lettered in gold at the spine. Illustrated with photographs. Small knock to the tip of a single corner. A very good copy in lightly chafed and edge worn non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with some light fading to spine panel. An often humorous account of the notorious 1976 criminal libel case brought by James Goldsmith ['(Sir) Jammy Fishpaste'] against the satirical magazine 'Private Eye'. The case almost bankrupt the magazine and the owners turned to the readership for financial support in the form of the 'Goldenballs Fund'..
