About This Item

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1920. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Terra cotta cloth with blue lettering and blue and yellow pictorial stamping. xx, 181pp. Very good. Quite nice, tight first edition -- and extra-illustrated with unique frontispiece in the form of blank facing leaf to which is tipped a 4" X 3 3/4" glassine slip boldly inscribed and signed by the poet in brown ink: "For Sarah K. Smith / from / Nicholas Vachel Lindsay / Christmas -- 1923." Lindsay attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1900 to 1903 and Smith was a friend and classmate there.
