Indianapolis: Bobbs Merrill, 1934. First edition. green cloth, gilt lettering on cover, DJ wrapped in mylar, not priced clipped, ffep inscription erased, 25 illustrations, pages clean, 333 pages. very good/very good. C. B. Glasscock is the historian of the western mines, the painter of colorful characters, "accurate in his field as Hardy in Wessex," says Charles J. finer in the New York Herald Tribune. In The big Bonanza he brought to life the great story of the Comstock Lode; in Gold in Them Hills he renewed the thrills of Goldfield, Tonopah, and the last mad mining excitement of Nevada, in which he himself took part. Now he does as much or more for the greatest gold rush in the world's history, the rush to California in 1849, today reviving under the stimulus of the high premium upon. newly mined gold. DD3.
