Tale written in the 2nd century AD about an ass with human intelligence, translated from the original Latin by William Adlington, with an introduction by Denis Saurat. 220pp, illustrated with black and white drawings to the text. Gilt drawing to top board and gilt title on black label to spine. Boards slightly bowed, minor marking to edges and remains of owner's inscription to pastedown, otherwise very good copy. Unclipped DJ has slight edge and surface wear, otherwise very good.
