Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1953. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. Review copy, with the publisher's ink stamp to the front flap of the dust jacket. Presentation copy, inscribed by Ray Bradbury to Howard Rappaport of Brooklyn, New York on the front flyleaf. Accompanied by correspondence from Bradbury to Rappaport, including two typed letters signed (TLS), three gummed labels inscribed and signed by Bradbury with a typed note of transmittal, and three signed Christmas cards (1955-57).
The author's third collection of short stories, regarded by many as his finest. Among the 22 stories are such classics as "The Pedestrian," "A Sound of Thunder," and "The Fog Horn". The book's title is also the title of final story in the collection, and comes from the last line of the final stanza of William Butler Yeats' poem "The Song of Wandering Aengus" (1899).
Octavo: 250 p. with drawings by Joe Mugnaini. Original cloth-covered boards, with yellow titles. Tiny spot to the top edge, with some very light edgewear to the boards; else near fine in an especially fresh and bright dust jacket.
