This is a true FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1927, with the lovely illustrations by artist John R. Neill, including pen-and-ink endpapers, full-color frontispiece & all full-color internal plates intact!!! With green publisher's cloth over boards, black lettering & design to spine, publisher's name in the original plain, not fancy script, & a full-color front paper pastedown, in 282 pages. From a single owner collection, this hardcover book is in VG+ condition: very bright & clean, binding straight & strong, both hinges secure. Slight pushing to both ends of spine & rubbing to extremities/corner bumping, light soil. Pages creamy white, with moderate tanning, heavier around edges; no foxing. Front pastedown is bright & colorful, with very slight edgewear. "This Book Belongs To." page had a name in pencil, erased, but an old inscription dated 1933 remains in pen on ffep, else unmarked.
