About This Item

New York: Scholastic Press. Fine in Near Fine dj. 1998. 1st Edition (see note). Hardcover. 0590959433 . [a very nice copy, tight and clean, with just a trace of surface wear to the jacket]. (B&W drawings) "A collection of unicorn stories that unicorn lovers will treasure for a lifetime. This fantastical volume includes works by award-winning writers, including Gregory Maguire, Jessica Amanda Salmonson, Sean Stewart, and, of course, Bruce Coville. There are beautiful illustrations from award-winning artist Alix Berenzy. Each story takes the reader on a journey to find the magic in life [and the book] will make everyone who reads it a true believer." (My guess is that the hardcover printing of this title was largely for library distribution, which would account for its general scarcity today. The paperback edition can be readily found, but if you're giving this book as a gift, you'll want a nice hardcover, correct? I thought so.) [Please NOTE that the book states "First printing, 1998," but also bears a number line in which the lowest number is 2; the number line is perfectly centered, however, which leads me to believe that this is in fact a first printing of the first edition.] .
