About This Item

An exceptionally nice copy of likely the most important early book on the Canadian Rockies. Thorington was the undisputed authority on the range and made many early ascents.

John W. Lea, Philadelphia, 1925. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: VG-, chips and some darkening. 8vo pp. xvxi, (2), 310, preface, frontispiece photograph, illustrations, panoramas, and maps, (collated), Gift inscription on front pastedown. Limited edition one of 1500, signed. book. This copy is not signed by Thorington (as many are) and is not numbered (as many are), but includes the scarce and fragile dust wrapper. The wrapper has a large chip at the top of the spine and a lesser one along the bottom of the spine, and then several chips along the bottom of the rear panel. The book itself is bright and clean, with the gilt lettering bright. A collector's copy.
