Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges.

A charmingly illustrated first edition of this play featuring Cinderella, by Eleanor and Herbert Farjeon. First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Written by siblings Eleanor and Herbert Farjeon; Eleanor was a popular children's author, while her brother was a major figure in British theatre in the West End. Together, Eleanor and Herbert collaborated on this charming play featuring Cinderella, the fairy and the prince, amongst many others who are well-known from the delightful fairy-tale. With lovely illustrations by Hugh Stevenson, many of which are in colour. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with slight bumping to the extremities and to the spine. Light fading, mainly to the head of the front and rear boards. Dust wrapper is generally smart, with edge wear and chipping causing loss to the head of the spine. Wraps are slightly soiled and sunned, moreso to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Jacket has some edge wear, a few spots of minor chipping but NO tears. Dust wear to back and spine of jacket, spine somewhat faded. One white scuff on front of jacket. Pages clean and vibrant, NO foxing or markings, illustrations are gorgeous. Protected in removable archival plastic sleeve to prevent further wear to jacket.

Allan Wingate, 1946. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG+/VG. Hugh Stevenson. Blue cloth with gilt stamped titles to the spine (vi) 118pp (2) cast list from original production with 8 full page colour plates by Hugh Stevenson. Together with original unclipped jacket priced at 9s 6d net. Letter, on the author's stationery, laid in. A very good plus book with minor shelf wear along the bottom edge and a small ownership name on the front free endpaper. The dust jacket, which is slightly larger than the book, as called for and there are five small pieces of tape 1.5 x.5 cm reinforcing the top edge on the inside. It has some dust staining on the rear panel and is a little rubbed and lightly creased on the top and bottom edges. There is minimal loss to the fore edge corners and a small 1/2 cm chip from the top of the spine. The Glass Slipper is a retelling of the story of Cinderella complete with talking furniture very reminiscent of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. It was first performed at the St. James…
