About This Item
(London: Arthur Pearson Ltd.: 1929) Tenth Edition. Pictorial limp cloth (that is, flexible covers) plus pp. 204. Illustrated. Index. Loosely included are two snapshots, sent to Mary, one a Kodak Print of Betty H. Wells Joint Captain 1st Mid Northern Lones 1931 with three of her friends; the other, in full uniform, tents in the distant background, of 'Miss Daphne Bowman, Head of Lone Guiding in S[outh] A[ustralia], Taken 1st Group Camp of Lones to be held in SA at Polltallack Station Tailem Bend her home, September 1930'. At the head of the half-title is Betty's name neatly crossed out and in the same hand a new ownership inscription 'Mary Kramer, Alice Springs'. Presumably Betty sent the book, with photographs, to a fellow Loner whom she had never met. An ownership stamp on half-title page. Light foxing to edges; a very good copy.
