About This Item

London: Herbert Jenkins, 194-. Pp. 312; cr. 8vo; orange cloth, lettered in black, slightly soiled, edges lightly rubbed and fore-corners a trifle bruised, the spine faded to greenish/yellow; ownership inscription (dated 1951) on upper free endpaper, the free endpapers offset, a little light foxing; Herbert Jenkins, London, n.d.[1940s?]. Fifteenth Edition. McIlvaine 28b.9? *Lacking the dust wrapper. First published in America in 1922 under the title Three Men and a Maid. McIlvaine describes this as the 'fifteenth printing, completing 98,781 copies', but the information printed on the copyright page is 'Fifteenth Edition completing 111,781 copies'. (McIlvaine's number is presumably incorrect, as she records the earlier 'Thirteenth printing' as 'completing 103,781 copies').
