XVII, 358 pages. Indexed. The Giorgi-Cavaletto family origins are Swiss Italian, later settling in the Santa Barbara area of Southern California. Valerie Dyer Giorgi grew up in Chowchilla, CA. She and her husband lived in Santa Maria, CA. In the introduction is a lengthy history of first meetings, marriages, and family gatherings and food traditions. Many of the recipes are family variations of local dishes while others are old family recipes handed down from generation to generation. All the recipes are gathered from family members and some include genealogies, and handwritten notes. The text is type written with all capitals for author emphasis, usually genealogies for contributor's comments.
