About This Item

N.p.: N.p., 1975. Draft script for the 1977 play, which premiered on Broadway on October 6, 1977 at the John Golden Theatre. Single annotation in manuscript ink on the title page, noting copy No. 13. Copy belonging to actor Hume Cronyn, with his printed name and address at the bottom right corner of the title page. Cronyn starred in the play alongside his wife Jessica Tandy.

A two-person, two-act play, about two elderly nursing home residents who converse while playing a series of gin rummy games, gradually exposing the others' weaknesses and vulnerabilities, each attempting to further belittle and humiliate the other. The play had a run of 517 performances, closing on December 31, 1978. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and winner of the Tony Award for Best Actress for Jessica Tandy.

Black titled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers, with credit for playwright D. L. Coburn. Title page present, with credit for playwright D. L. Coburn. 72 leaves, with last page of text numbered 2-2-34. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Near Fine, bound with two gold screw brads.
