About This Item
London: Geoffrey Bles, 1928. First Edition. Hard Cover. (London: Geoffrey Bles n.d. [1928]). Note: the First UK Edition of this title is un-dated. Publisher's orange cloth with black lettering to the front board and spine. Usual browning/foxing to the (original) end-papers and page toning (due to the poor quality of paper used). Slight softening to the spine tips and minor marks to the boards in places. Overall about VG. No D/W. The basis for the movie of the same name (the first major, British horror film) directed by T Hayes Hunter and starring Boris Karloff, Cedric Hardwicke, Ernest Thesiger and Ralph Richardson (making his movie debut). Uncommon. The Ghoul prompted the US Philadelphia Public Ledger to declare "It out-Draculas Dracula in its hair-raising, chill-producing weirdness". Photographs/scans available upon request.
