About This Item
Valencia: Ediciones Europa-América, 1937. First edition. Softcover. vg+ to near fine. Duodecimo. 30pp. Striking staple-bound illustrated b/w wrappers. Published in Spain during the civil war, this now scarce leftist anti-Nazi publication discusses the activities of the Gestapo during the Third Reich.
The prolific publisher Ediciones Europa-América, was founded in 1928, and was known for its direct connection to Soviet Russia and its activities disseminating work of Soviet propaganda and Communist/Marxist material in Spanish. It was originally based in Paris and Buenos Aires, but later relocated to Spain in 1932 (mostly in Madrid, but also Barcelona and Valencia), where it published material there through the end of the Spanish Civil war. With the defeat of Republican forces in 1939, operations were subsequently moved to Mexico.
Text in Spanish.
Wrappers with minor rubbing to extremities, and the most minor smudges. Interior pristine, with binding tight. Wrappers in very good+, interior in near fine condition overall. This pamphlet is quite scarce, with only 4 holdings in libraries worldwide on OCLC. It is not included on the comprehensive list of the publisher's works, created by the Spanish-language "Diccionario filosófico" database.
