Denver, CO: Sage Books, 1964. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Text/BRAND NEW. Off-white linen boards/Fine. DJ/NF w/light nips, chips to edges; under mylar. Autobiography/memoir of journalist, social activist and US Representive from Colorado, Edward Keating (1875 - 1965). 1900 census showed 2 million children working in mills, mines, fields, factories, stores, and on city streets across the U.S. In 1916, with Robert Owen, he co-authored the Keating-Owen Act, a milestone in child labor laws. It's passage (vigorously opposed by Southern textile mills) enventually sheltered some a quarter of a million children; protection of children farm labor came later. Memoir in 4 parts: I, Early Life; II, Some Newspaper & Political Stories; III, Interesting People; and IV, Congressional Experience.
