Generously illustrated in color (chromolithographs) with many full page and double page spreads. The artwork credited to a dog named "Bob." Presumably Sibylle Aimée Marie Antoinette Gabrielle de Riquetti de Mirabeau, pen name "Gyp", was both artist and author of this now uncommon book. Pages are fresh and fine, light foxing to first color leaf (or paper cover), otherwise artwork clean, bright and unfaded. Bound in hardcover of decorative paper over boards with a green cloth spine with gilt titling. Cover is clean and attractive; with moderate edge rub and wear at corners including shallow chip from top front corner, bit of f toning along edges of boards. Binding and hinges tight, intact and straight. Gyp was labeled a "right-wing anarchist" and is considered one of the most provocative figures in fin-de-siecle France.
