About This Item
San Francisco: Tabor. Good. Photograph. A rare boudoir card of Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton. Photo measures 4 3/4" x 8", with some soil on left side. On the verso is a list of other available photographs by H. E. Mathews, "Fifth Series--Revised December, 1887." Lick was constructed by 1888, dating the card to some time around the 1890s." 1903" is on the photo but seems to be the catalog number listed on the verso rather than a date. Mathews is quoted elsewhere as having an album with this photo in it, saying it was one of his few that escaped the 1906 San Francisco earthquake "conflagration." No records found of this size and boudoir card print on OCLC. ; B&W Photographs; 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" .
