Original publisher's navy cloth, lettered in gilt to spine. Later endpapers. A trifle rubbed and marked, remnants of printed Edinburgh reading club label to upper board. The first edition of Indian Civil Servant Thomas Henry Thornton's (1832-1913) biography of Sir Richard John Meade (1821-1894), British Indian Army officer and sometime Chief Commissioner of Mysore. .
