About This Item

London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co, 1892. 2nd Ed. . Brown Library Cloth. Good-VG. 15.5 Cms x 22.5 Cms. Vol.1: xxx+510; Vol.2: xvii+404, red-sprinkled text-block edges; both vols have heraldic Leeds Public Libraries plates on front pastedown and discarded stamp on new library supplied facing endpaper, faint impressed stamps to half-titles and t.p.s & occ. elsewhere (these quite innocuous), red accession stamps verso t.p.s, loan sheets to rear endpapers plus small 1962 date stamps bottom same; internally clean, tight and unmarked with only very few minor dust marks and top corner rubs. Covers clean and bright with gilt spine lettering and lib.numbers, a small black mark centre spine Vol.1. Includes discussion of relationship between langauge and thought, but majority of text is a survey of the grammatical structures of a huge number of languages from across the world. Some changes from 1st ed. noted in the Preface to the Second Edition. A very good reference and working copy of this massive study. Allow for additional postage especially for non-UK sales.
