First published in 1710, this 1818 edition being the first time Robertson's continuation appeared.Illustrated with a frontispiece, two colour folding maps, one folding plate, and two plates.Collated, bound without one plate.A fascinating history on the town of Renfrew, a historic county town nicknamed 'Cradle of the Royal Stewarts'.This history explores the town from its earliest times, looking at the noble families who have frequented it, including the Stuart family, who had been based out of the former Renfrew Castle.By George Crawfurd and George Robertson.Bookplate of Hugh Wright, Glasgow, to the front paste down. In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some light rubbing to the leather, a little heavier to the joints and extremities. Light marks to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional spot tide mark to the front endpaper, frontispiece, and first few pages of text, and to the plates. A couple of small closed tears to the folds of the folding maps. Good
