About This Item
Quarter Calf. Marbled paper pastedown on boards. . Very Good. Circa 1840s. We assume this manuscript, which is lengthy, was a project executed over a number of years. It is rife with dates stretching back to the Middle Ages, with the most recent date we could find 1848, and so we can fairly assume that the manuscript was completed around that time, as the handwriting and other aspects of the manuscript are certainly consistent with that date and not really compatible with a much later date. 8vo. 23.5 by 19.5 cm. Unpaginated, 267 leaves (we are counting the RFEP because there is handwriting on the recto side, but not its counterpart in the front), or 533 pages, with content, and generally very small handwriting, on the vast majority of pages, although there are some blank pages interspersed. The handwriting is a cursive, and a very neat cursive that often can be regarded as calligraphic, and occasionally is calligraphic by design, as with the instances of larger lettering at the beginning of sections.
