With coloured illustrations, tipped-in plates, textual illusts, pedigrees, some of which are folding, 3 vols, 91pp, 52pp, 92pp, 4to, original cloth, cloth not quite uniform, lettering feint on one volume, and with a few marks to rear board. Presentation inscription by G.R. Gayre to front endpaper of volume 1. Very Scarce. Contains much on the Gayre's of Cornwall. The first volume concerns the origins of the name in Scotland and how they spread to Cornwall and Devon. The whole of volume 2 and approx. a third of volume 3 is devoted to Cornwall.
