About This Item

(New York): A Dutton Book, 1995. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. First edition. 205pp. Pages lightly age-toned, small dampstain on bottom edge, remainder mark, about very good in a near fine dust jacket. Genetically altered tomatoes, bovine growth hormone, what selective breeding has done to chickens, and the conditions they endure; it's all here in the now-history of our domestic food supply. Ironically, the president of the chicken company lauded in the book was later in the news for letting 180,000 chickens die of starvation when the company went bankrupt shortly after publication.
