An interesting exploration of the connection between architectural embellishment of gardens and landscape gardening. With four plates and a frontispiece and many in-text illustrations.Collated, complete. With adverts to the rear. From the library of Doctor Malcolm Higgs, an important architectural historian who worked as an assistant architect to Stirling & Gowan, working on their particularly renowned Leicester University Engineering Laboratory. During his long career he taught at the University of Edinburgh School of Architecture, Canterbury School of Architecture, and University of Nottingham. Later in his life he was the Vice-President and Honorary Librarian of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and contributed and edited the "Journal of Architecture". In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some fading to the spine and light rubbing to the joints, light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Previous owner pencil inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
