About This Item

London: B. T. Batsford Ltd., 1965. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine copy/slightly worn. 8vo, Cloth. Pp. xiv, 384, (ii). Illustrated: 28 pp. of plates. Maps. End-paper maps of region. Notes on Sources. Index. On April 15, 1915 British and Dominion troops forced a landing at the south tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula in an effort to force Turkey to abandon its alliance with Germany. What followed was eight months of disaster and some half million casualties on both sides. It is a bitter, heart-breaking story but told here never better.
