Black-and-white illustrations. Photos of both artists. Alexander Calder (1898-1976) was an American sculptor known his innovative mobiles, his static stabiles, and his monumental public sculptures. Naum Gabo (1890-1977) was a key figure in the development of twentieth-century sculpture. He is known for his small reliefs and constructions, monumental public sculpture and pioneering kinetic works that assimilated new materials.
