Internally clean and crisp. Presentation copy, inscribed to head of title-page; 'E. M. Sladden / from F. A. de la Mare / 6th August 1957'. A privately printed tribute to 'G. B. Lancaster' the pseudonym of Australasian author Edith Joan Lyttleton (1873-1945). One of New Zealand's most acclaimed writers, Lyttleton's primary themes were colonial identity and the legacy of imperialism. Her 1933 novel Pageant was undoubtedly her most successful work, topping the American best-seller list for six months. COPAC records only a single copy (BL). . First edition. 8vo.
