The Future of the American Negro by Booker T. Washington - 1900

Boston, MA: Small, Maynard & Company, 1900. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, room cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Guilt is bright but cloth has lost to the finish, mainly on the bottom of the front and the top half of the rear board. Exterior has minor corner bumps though there are some edge bumps on the top and bottom of the rear board. Internal binding is good except for one section at the front board and there is a thin crack starting several inches down from the top. Copyright page states this is the second edition (2000 copies) published in February, 1900. It also states the first edition, also of 2000 copies, was published in November 1899. This book came from the collection of Miss Sallie E. Robinson, who was a very prominent African-American from the Philadelphia area, and her signature appears on the front end page. There is also a faint penned mark near the upper outside corner of the preface page. No other handwriting noted, no bookplates, no library markings etc.
