New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1911. First edition. Hardcover. Good/No jacket. Guerin, Jules. 524 pages with glossary of foreign words and phrases, tissue protected color frontispiece. Novel set in Rome by an often controversial and satirical British author and journalist who traveled widely. Green cloth binding with gilt titles and blindstamped decorations on front cover and spine. Some staining of cover, titles faded on spine, edge wear, especially at spine edges, corners and spine ends bumped, former owner's name on front free end paper, (Etta Kerr Hicks, granddaughter of Reverdy Johnson of Maryland, Attorney General under President Zachary Taylor, 1849 -1850) end papers tanning along with half title, interior pages mostly bright with a little edge tanning and small stains on some page edges, binding tight.
