First American Edition. Hardcover. Translated from the German by Polly Leeds Weil. Nervous and Mental Disease Monograph Series No. 60. Brown boards. Index. The authors are noted on the title page as being the Director and Assistant Director of the Psychoanalytic Clinic in Vienna, and were in Freud's circle of followers, sharing a common preoccupation with female frigidity until they all emigrated from Nazi Germany in the immediate years following publication of this book. Some unsubstantiated theorizing in this book about how "the female sex manifests deficiency in the realm of sexual gratification", how women do not attain "complete genitality" until they have been "deflowered" and this oddly phrased statement tossed off as fact: "Woman's destiny to be complete must also include child-bearing and suckling." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 76 pages .
